Prof., Dr. Scient. Jon Martin Trondalen, Chairman of The Compass Foundation has written a book, “Water and Peace for the People”. The book is based upon years of negotiation experience, on four of the most entrenched water disputes in the Middle East, and more importantly, proposes solutions to these water disputes. The bottom line is that “Unless the countries cooperate, the rivers of the Middle East will become Rivers of Fire”.
Dr. Trondalen says, “We can either go forward the way countries and communities do today with conflicts and wars – over religious matters, political issues, and ideologies. And, continue conflicts over even precious and all dependant water resources. The final outcome of this is chaos and collapse of nations and misery for millions of people! Or; we can create HOPE and SOLUTIONS to these conflicts in ways in which water can be stewarded in a proper way!” UNESCO has published the book in English, Arabic and Hebrew.
